St. Monica’s Advent Reflection

Saturday December 5, 2015 5:00pm - 8:00pm

 

To prepare our hearts and minds for Christmas, St. Monica’s Parish CWL hosted an Advent Evening of Reflection on Saturday, December 5, 2015 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. Father Pierre Farrugia, a Franciscan friar, lead the Reflection on the theme of “The Annunciation.” With the Christmas season fast approaching, it was a great opportunity to pause, listen and look deeply into our lives to find room to appreciate the meaning of “God is with us.”

Lecture Series on St. Luke's Parables to prepare our hearts for Advent

Wednesdays: Nov. 4, 11, 18 and 25,  2015

Year after year, we notice the Liturgical colour change from Green to Purple.   We see the Advent wreath come out.  We notice the externals but as Advent approaches how do we prepare our interior hearts to celebrate this Liturgical Season? 

 

Parishioners joined Father Damian Young-Sam-You, Pastor of St. Monica's Parish, to prepare thier hearts for Advent through a journey with St. Luke's Parables.

Dogmatic Theology - Coming to Know God Through God's Best Friend

October 5 - November 16, 2015

Location:  St. Monica's Parish Hall

 

This eight week course was based upon a spiritual lesson Fr. James Mallon learned from his dog "Monsi".

 

Each Session included:

​- A meal and time to gather

- Prayer

- 40-50 Minute DVD presentation on an Aspect of the Christian Faith

- Small Group Discussion

St. Monica’s CWL Annual Bazaar

November 7, 2015

Parish Hall

 

CWL hosted the annual fundraising event for the charities supported by CWL, and made the day a great success!

Various items were sold, snacks were available and an auction was held. 

Volunteer Ministry Fair

CWL Get Together

September 26, 2015

Location: Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall

 

St. Monica's Catholic Women’s League invited present and past CWL members to a “Get Together Party” on Saturday, September 26th from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall. The festivities was filled with fun, food and life.

The Joy of the Gospel Lecture Series

Feast day of St. Monica

On August 27 we celebrated the feast day of our Patroness, St. Monica.   Click here to learn more about the life of St. Monica.

 

We celebrated her Feast day with an hour Adoration starting at 6:00pm and ending with Benediction at 7:00pm.  Followed by refreshments in the Parish Hall.

St. Monica's Youth Ministry Presents.. Dinner & Karaoke

July 25, 2015 at 6:00pm

in the Parish Hall

 

This evening was a great success.  Over 100 people came out and the youth raised over $1,700.   Father Damian sang "Let it Go"  and many other songs.   Everyone had a great time and lots of fun.

Totus Tuus Summer Program

July 19 - July 24, 2015

 

Totus Tuus is a multi-tiered program for Catholic youth in the Archdiocese of Toronto. The program offers a one-week summer camp to parishes looking for youth programming during the summer. 

 

Last summer we had Totus Tuus here at St. Monica's Parish and it was a success.   Click here to see Photos oflast years Totus Tuus.  This year the students and Missionary teachers of Totus Tuus had a great time and lots of fun.   During the day, students going into grades 1 to 6 learned about the 7 Virtues (3 Theological Virtues and 4 Cardinal Virtues) and the Sorrowful Mysteries of the Rosary.  And the evening program for those going into grade 7-12, in addition to learning about the 7 Virtues, learned about prayer, Adoration and confession.
